This is one of the oldest and most respected personals sites on the net.
They claim to have over 1.5 million registered users. According to their
statistics, the male/female ratio is about 55%/45%, higher than many other
services. Many of their users are college educated. They do a good job
of filtering out spam. Currently, most members are in the U.S. At $16.95
a month (discounts available), they are a little more expensive than some
of the other services. They offer a seven day "free trial." Unlike many
of the other sites, they require you to at least sign up for the free
trial before letting you browse the ads. Update:
This site was recently purchased by Ticketmaster/City Search and is going
to be merged with one and only network.

There are several sites in the Friendfinder network such as Friendfinder (heterosexual), Adult Friendfinder (for intimate encounters), Alt.com (S&M and Bondage) and
Out Personals (homosexual). This review is of the main Friendfinder site. With over 350,000 members, Friendfinder is a powerhouse indeed. This site allows free browsing by state and age without signing up. The members of this service tend to be a little younger than other services. They currently have members as young as 13 years old. If you are not a "silver" (21.95/3mo.) or a "gold" (29.94/3mo.) member, you are limited in the number of ads that you can browse and reply to in a day. You must sign up as at least a "basic" member to reply to other people's ads. They also offer an option where you can send an "auto reply" to people who respond to your ad. They are the only service that I know of that pays a referral bounus of $1 to help recruit new members. I also found the personality profile section interesting.

Releationships.com is part of the Socialnet network of sites. Along
with dating, Socialnet also offers a business networking group and an
activity partner search service. This review is of the dating portion
of the website. This site is free!! Free to browse, free to post and free
to answer ads. Can't beat that! The site does allow browsing of ads without
registering, but you cannot read the ad or reply without registering yourself.
The registration process is a little longer than on many other sites,
but that is for setting up the screening tools. The quality of people
online is about average, but the screeners allow you to filter the ads
and find the best ones. I found the screen tools as one of the best ones
around. They also offer a private mailbox, which is always nice for security.
They also keep track of who you wrote and when. I did not see any spam
or porn ads. I guess the only thing I did not like was the fact that there
were not very many profiles with photos, but, hey, it's free, so I can't
be too picky. This site is a little newer than many of the other sites,
so the membership is not as high as match.com or yahoo, but it is gaining
fast! So check it out!
