This is a free personals service as part of the Yahoo! search engine. The profiles on this site are not very long and the quaility is marginal. Also, this site has a lot of porno ads and spam. A better solution for singles is the Yahoo Clubs section which is good for finding people with similar interests. You can also meet people using the Yahoo Messenger. One idea that I have tried a few times is to find someone interesting in the clubs and then page them on the messenger. Not bad for a free site!

Excite Personals

Similar to Yahoo! personals, Excite offers their own personals service, as a partnership with Classifieds 2000. Like Yahoo, this site is free and you get what you pay for! If you are looking for a hooker or a one night stand, then you might like this site. However, if you are interested in a real relationship, there are better sites out there. The one reply that I got for my ad on there was some guy who wanted to pay me 100 bucks to watch me "pleasure myself." A friend of mine had a similar experience with her ad on Excite. Yikes!

Matchmaker

Actually a network of sites, Matchmaker is another major online dating service. This service offers a two week free trial. During the free trial, you can send up to 100 letters and chat is not available. After that, the full service costs $12.95 a month. They have some of the best security features around like anonymous e mail (several others offer it) and e mail blocking. They also have an extensive member questionnaire. The questionnaire allows for HTML tags so you can get a little creative here. In order to browse, you have to sign up for the free trial. They also have a feature where you can see who else is online while you are browsing.
